#1 It helps you respect your own boundaries
As a business owner, it can be difficult to respect your own boundaries. Whether those are your business hours, when you check your email, how many clients you do a session for in a day, what circumstances you allow a refund, etc. the list goes on and on. Having a business manager in place allows someone else to make sure your boundaries are respected. So when a client wants to change their package from a package that requires you to be on call to a package that doesn’t with less than 48 hours notice, that client does not get a refund. As the business owner, you may issue a refund simply to avoid an uncomfortable conversation which then makes you lose money. Having someone else tell your client that due to the short notice, you weren’t able to book that date because you were on call, therefore we can’t issue a refund-takes the uncomfortable conversation out of your hands and into the hands of your manager. This can be said for any circumstance in your business, it is easier for a business manager to say no knowing they need to respect and honor their client’s boundaries. That means – if Mondays are reserved for family and a client wants a Monday session you’re not tempted to do the session. Your manager tells that client “Hey I’m sorry she doesn’t do sessions on Mondays we would love to schedule you on session on xx/xx.”
#2 You get more time back in your life
As a photographer or creative business owner, you are busy traveling to sessions, traveling to weddings, editing the galleries, creating the products, holding IPS meetings, and any other task required for the creative side of your business. It can be difficult to find time to build your email list, write your blogs, send submissions to magazines, curate and send vendor galleries, answer your emails, make sure contracts are signed and the payments are made on time, etc. These tasks have to be done in order for your business to run efficiently and having a management team take care of and complete these tasks will save you hours in your week. Which means more time to be spent doing the things that you love to do in your business or with your family.
#3 We create a consistent marketing strategy
Everyone knows that social media can be the bread-and-butter of a photography business-whether it is wedding photography, branding photography, family photography, or you are selling a course to photographers, visibility is key. Having a team that keeps your social media consistent can be a game changer. Paired with building your email list, providing your audience with newsletters about topics that are important to them, and creating blog posts that increase SEO plus show you as an expert in your field, will allow you to stand out from the crowd.
